Teeth straightening in Küsnacht-Goldbach
Invisalign®, Angel Aligner and orthodontics in Küsnacht near Zurich
With Invisalign® in Küsnacht, we straighten crooked teeth using a series of clear aligners. Our orthodontic care includes a second system, Angel Aligner. Children can have a first assessment from age 7 or 8. You take the aligners out to eat and to brush your teeth. You will find us in Küsnacht-Goldbach near Zurich, right by the station.

How aligners straighten teeth
Aligners are thin, clear plastic trays made to fit your teeth exactly. Worn one after another, they move your teeth step by step into the planned position. Each aligner is shaped slightly differently from the last, so it applies light pressure to the teeth.
We plan the entire course of treatment digitally in advance. Not every misalignment can be corrected with aligners, though. So we first examine your teeth to see whether aligners suit you.
For the differences between aligners and fixed braces, see our guide clear aligners and braces compared.
Angel Aligner vs Invisalign®: what they have in common
Our clinic works with two aligner systems. With both, you wear clear, removable aligners. The recommended wear time is the same too. We discuss which system suits you after the examination.
Invisalign®
With Invisalign®, we discreetly correct misaligned teeth, including in adults. In the appointment form, you can select “Invisalign®” directly as the treatment.
Angel Aligner
Angel Aligner is our second system alongside Invisalign®. Here too, clear, removable aligners guide the teeth into the planned position.
Before any aligner treatment begins, you can see on your smartphone how your teeth might look afterwards. The preview is free and without obligation. It does not replace a consultation with a dentist. You can try the smile simulation with a selfie.
Aligner treatment step by step
From the first consultation to the retainer, treatment follows five steps.
Examination and consultation
At the examination, we check whether aligners are suitable for you. We take X-rays only when needed, and they are digital. For the first consultation, you can request an Invisalign® appointment online.
Scan and digital treatment plan
A small scanner records your teeth in 3D, without any impression material. We then plan your treatment digitally. This lets you see the expected result before treatment starts. Read more about the steps of a digital scan.
Custom-made aligners
Your aligners are made specially for you. You wear one aligner at a time and switch to the next one at short intervals.
Progress checks every six to eight weeks
During treatment, we usually see you every 6 to 8 weeks. We check whether your teeth are moving as planned and adjust the treatment if necessary.
A retainer after treatment
Once your teeth have been straightened, you usually need a retainer. This is either a tray that holds the teeth in place or a thin wire on the inside of the teeth. It is meant to stop the teeth drifting back.
Wearing aligners in everyday life
Why you wear the aligners almost round the clock
We recommend wearing the aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. Take them out only to eat and to clean your teeth. An aligner works only while it is on your teeth. That is why you wear them at night too.
Eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth
These general tips make everyday life with aligners easier. We will discuss what applies to you.
- Brush your teeth after eating, before you put the aligners back in.
- Keep the aligners in their case when you are not wearing them.
- Drink only water while the aligners are in. Otherwise sugar and colourings stay on your teeth under the aligner.
- Clean the aligners with cold or lukewarm water, not hot water.
Invisible braces for adults
People searching for invisible braces for adults usually mean aligners. Many adults would like straight teeth but do not want to wear visible braces. Straightening teeth is possible in adulthood too.
Your teeth and gums need to be healthy first. Tooth decay or gum inflammation is therefore treated before straightening begins. During treatment, thorough cleaning is especially important because the aligners fit closely over the teeth. Find out what a professional teeth cleaning involves.
Orthodontics for children in Küsnacht
A misalignment affects the whole set of teeth, right down to the jawbone. Crooked teeth are also harder to clean. So it is worth having children's teeth and jaws checked early.
Your child's first check from age seven or eight
We recommend a first orthodontic examination from age 7 or 8. At this age, the first permanent teeth are coming through and the jaw is still growing. A misalignment is often first noticed at a check-up. This is another reason for regular dental check-ups for children.
What the orthodontic assessment involves
At our clinic in Küsnacht, an orthodontic assessment involves an examination of the teeth and jaw. We also take a digital scan. If needed, we add a digital X-ray. We then plan the right treatment. We discuss with you which type of brace suits your child and when treatment should begin.
For a first appointment, you can request a check for your child online.
Treatment for crowded teeth
Teeth are called crowded when there is not enough room in the jaw for all of them. The teeth then overlap or are twisted. Plaque sticks easily in the narrow gaps, and cleaning becomes difficult. Over time, this can encourage tooth decay and gum inflammation.
How crowding can be treated depends on what we find. Aligners or another type of brace may be an option. Only the examination and the scan show which approach suits you.
Cost of Invisalign® and braces in Switzerland
You find out what straightening your teeth will cost after a personal consultation. It depends heavily on your starting point.
We bill transparently under the Dentotar tariff, with our tax point value (Taxpunktwert) of CHF 1.13, and give you open advice on costs. The Swiss dental tariff gives each treatment a set number of tax points (Taxpunkte). Tax points multiplied by the tax point value give the amount in Swiss francs.
The compulsory basic health insurance (Grundversicherung) does not usually pay for straightening teeth. How much treatment costs depends mainly on these points:
- how many teeth need to move, and how far
- how long the treatment takes
- how many aligners you need
- the progress checks during treatment and the retainer afterwards
Frequently asked questions about Invisalign® and orthodontics
Is your question not listed? Call us or send us an email.
+41 44 915 17 77How long does Invisalign or Angel Aligner treatment take?
That depends on how far the teeth need to move. For Angel Aligner, we expect 6 to 18 months, depending on your starting point. The digital plan after the examination shows how long your treatment will take.
Does aligner treatment hurt?
When you switch to a new aligner, you usually feel slight pressure for one to two days. This shows that your teeth are moving. If an aligner presses for longer or rubs against your gums, please call us.
What happens if I don't wear my aligners enough?
Your teeth will not move as planned, and the next aligner may not fit properly. Treatment can then take longer. If you have missed some wear time, be open about it at your next check.
Am I too old for Invisalign?
No, there is no upper age limit for straightening teeth. With Invisalign®, we discreetly correct misaligned teeth in adults too. An examination shows whether straightening is right for you.
Are aligners noticeable in everyday life?
The aligners are clear and fit closely over your teeth, so they are hardly noticeable in conversation. They are not completely invisible, though. People can spot them up close.
Are braces for children covered by insurance in Switzerland?
Basic health insurance does not usually pay for children's braces. For recognised congenital disorders such as cleft lip and palate or certain severe jaw misalignments, the invalidity insurance (IV) covers the necessary treatment until the child's 20th birthday. The IV pays for aligners only in exceptional cases involving one specific congenital malformation of the teeth. Supplementary dental insurance may cover orthodontic costs in full or in part, depending on the insurer.
